Here is an overview and history of my skin:
I have combo/oily skin with dry patches occasionally (worst combination ever).
I am acne prone and usually breakout due to stress, the monthly cycle, and eating foods with dairy.
Now on to what I use!
I purchased the Clarisonic Mia about a month ago and will do a whole post on that in the future (probably not for another month or two). As you can see I am almost out of Philosophy's Purity Face Wash. I love the cleanser itself but hate the smell! It's so strong (at least for me). I think I will be switching cleansers as soon as this is done. I got my Mia from Skinstore.com during a 20% off deal. Its seems they have these kind of deals regularly so check them out!
My daytime moisturizers: I love love love the Clinique one (it's a gel formula- great for oily skin!) but am almost out so I've been using the Philosophy Hope in a Jar (oil-free version). Once again however the Philosophy one has too strong of a scent for my taste. However both moisturizers are lightweight but moisturizing.. go figure xp
My nighttime moisturizers: Cetaphil and Vitamin E Oil. The Cetaphil moisturizer is a thick heavy formula. I use it at night alone or in conjunction with the Vitamin E Oil and my skin feels super duper soft in the morning! I also use the Vitamin E Oil on my eyelashes, lips, and hands. Oh and the Vitamin E Oil doesn't clog my pores or make me breakout. It actually helps heal existing acne as well as acne scars, really reduces the redness! I imagine it would be comparable to Bio Oil or Jojoba Oil.
Sometimes I like to mix this in with both my daytime and nighttime moisturizers. Helps soothe my skin if it's feeling irritated.
My Acne Treatments: Acne.org's Benzoyl Peroxide (2%) topical gel and Oxy's Salicylic Acid Cleansing Pads. Acne.org offers the most bang for your buck when it comes to purchasing BP. They sell such large quantities (as well as small ones) of BP and it costs less in comparison to the small tubes you get at the drugstore and roughly pay $5-$10 for. BP definitely helps get rid of and prevent acne. My only issue is it really dries out my skin and makes it feel kinda itchy which is why I go on and off the stuff. I use the OXY pads to get rid of bacteria on my face as well as use it on my chest and back. I don't usually use the same at the same time, I usually use one or the other.
Almost forgot about my eye cream! Honestly I haven't used any other one than the Clinique one...I am no eye cream expert. I just use it every night in hopes that is will prevent wrinkles.
Comparison of Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream and Clinique Eye Cream. Both are super thick in consistency.
My skincare routine isn't too fancy (I think at least ha) and for the most part has been the same for the past year. The only big change is adding the Clarisonic Mia and removing my last exfoliator which was Philosophy's Microdelivery Peel. But that's a story for a different day (will talk about in my upcoming Mia post!)
I want to try accutane but A) don't have health insurance and B) am worries that once I stop using it have it come right back
What's your skincare routine like? Do you have/had acne and if so how do you or did you get rid of your acne?
